With age comes a slower metabolism, weight gain (or loss if you’re so blessed), and sagging skin. Nothing wrong with aging since it is a part of life. But it is frustrating trying to look good in clothes.
The good news is there’s no need to hit the gym or skip on certain foods too much. It’s knowing what to wear and how to wear them that does the trick.

ToggleDON’T: Wear a tank top
Tank tops reveal too much skin while hugging your body, which just shows off all the areas you want to hide.
They can make you feel self conscious. It’s not that women aren’t proud of their curves, but don’t necessarily want to show off every one of them.
Now a cap sleeve or short sleeved shirt works better. It hides the saggy part of your arms, as well as other parts that usually like to bulge.
These shirts help hide those areas while keeping you comfortable and relaxed.
DO: Wear a camisole under clothing
What this does is it gives you that elongated look. Black really helps slim you out too. These are tight but breathable so you won’t feel any discomfort.
It keeps your body in check all while making you look a bit thinner.
DON’T: Wear oversized clothing
This goes for all ages too. Oversized clothing just looks odd most of the time, and can even make you look bigger.
Sure there’s a way to make them work when you’re younger but it is pretty difficult to execute that look.
DO: Wear clothes that fit
Not too tight, but not too loose either. Keep it tight just right and your curves will compliment you and may even draw a few eyes your way.
Make clothes work for you.
DO: Wear a comfortable heel
Yup, a heel. It doesn’t have to be a really high heel. For the most part, it makes an outfit look nicer, makes you seem taller and of course, slimmer.
You’ll be walking in them so choose a comfortable one.
DO: Wear high waisted pants
These high waisted pants give you a sleeker vertical look. Eyes will move from top to bottom instead of left to right.
It rises up to your belly button and that helps tuck in that tummy for a slender look.
DON’T: Wear jeans that are too long
They may fit you but they way they crumple up and sag at the bottom makes you look messy and just takes away that slim, slender look you worked so hard to achieve.
DON’T: Wear low waisted jeans
They will fit you but it will rest right under your tummy, and that top will drape over and show a bulging effect that most women aren’t going for.
Plus it’s a hassle to have to keep pulling them up when you’re on the move.
Darker makes you slender. Pair it with a nice pointy heel and you’ll automatically stand up taller.
Once again, it’s about creating that vertical look. It’s a tip that’s worked for years too.
DON’T: Always wear only all black
Black is a classic look but overdoing it defeats the purpose of looking fashionable. Don’t be afraid to break it with your favorite colors.
People will start thinking that you’re a member of the Addams Family.
DO: Add color on top of black outfits
Don’t be afraid of colors. Especially those long, flowy cardigans. They look really lovely over an all black ensemble.
It pops out without making your body pop out.
DO: Wear a stretch belt to & cinch the waist
Put it around your hips, or your waist, since they have a bit of give without sagging or looking awkward. They look great with sweater jackets.
It makes you appear thinner and it does compliment your outfit.
The name does what it is intended for. They are body hugging and it does bring in and tuck in those problem areas.
The best part is you wear them only when you want to.
Models, athletes, and us ordinary folk look so much better when not hunched or slumped over. Stand tall, back straight, head up, and walk with confidence.
It makes a huge difference.
DON’T: Wear Blouses that “gape”
No, safety pins don’t always help. They’ll ruin the material of your shirt too.
Your best friend here is double sided fashion tape.
DON’T: Wear skirts that make pockets bulge
Pockets are found on the sides right where your hips are. If a skirt makes those pockets bulge, then it will look like your hips are carrying a few extra pounds.
If they’re stubborn, use double sided tape. Or just don’t wear them.
DO: Wear tops that are flowy at the bottom
That long, flowy top drapes over pants, skirts, or leggings which gives you a tall, slender look. Experiment with different tucks for a bit of style.
Go for your favorite colors and have some fun.
DO: Wear jackets that cinch at the waist
It’s that hourglass figure that gives you a really slender look. Your upper body tapers in to a V-shape without overdoing it as if you’re wearing a corset.
Plus they look really lovely.
DO: Wear longer dresses with V-neck
The lower neckline brings the eyes downward, and the longer length brings those same eyes further downward. The waist is cinched just enough to keep you looking slimmer.
And they’re really comfortable.
DO: Wear a light cover-up over sleeveless top
Like the dresses, these make you look taller and leaner. They stretch well while flowing downwards plus they are breathable since they allow for lots of airflow.
It’s a simple yet classy look you’ll love.
DO: Wear a high-waist jean without a fly front
High waist jeans help bring your tummy in since it tucks in the extra weight. The lack of fly front helps bring it all upwards.
Drape a long, flowy top over it and it will give you a slimming look.
